Before the day, before the night
before the world revolved around the sun
God on high stepped down into time,
and wrote the story of His love for everyone
He has filled our hearts with wonder,
so that we always remember
You and I are made to worship,
you and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free
When You and I embrace surrender,
when You and I choose to believe
Then You and I will see who we were meant to be
All we are, all we have
is all the gift from God that we recieved
Brought to life, we open up our eyes
to see the majesty and glory of the king
He has filled our hearts with wonder,
so that we always remember
You and I are made to worship,
you and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free
When You and I embrace surrender,
when You and I choose to believe
Then You and I will see who we were meant to be
Even the rocks cry out, even the heaven's shout
at the sound of his holy name
So let every voice sing out and let every knee bow down
He is worthy of all our praise
That's Chris Tomlin's new song, "Made to worship," on the Passion '06 pre-release track from iTunes. As Sterling was talking last wednesday on Romans 12 and being who we were meant to be, this song came to my head, and I was thinking about what that means. You wouldn't go out and buy like a plasma screen tv and use it as a door mat. That's not what it was made for. You wouldn't buy a Razr and only use it as a flashlight. It wasn't made for that. You wouldn't buy a digital camera and use it as a clock instead of a camera! Or maybe you would. But that's not the point. If you wouldn't use those things for something they weren't made for, why would we do anything but what we were origianally made for, worshiping God? That seems outrageous! But we do it everyday. I do it everyday. It's human nature. But you and I were made to worship. You and I are called to love. You and I are forgiven and free. When you and I embrace surrender, when you and I choose to believe, then you and I will see who we were meant to be. Well, that's my thoughts for this week! Definitely not saying that I have any of this at all down, or ever will, but I'm trying. Talk to y'all next week!
