Please, don't make us sing this song...

Well, I'm trying to stick to my promise, so here's my second post. Except that I have no idea what to write about again. I got this new cd yesterday. It's called "Songs from The Voice Vol. 1: Please don't make us sing this song". It's really really really good. I love it. The CD's based on psalms from a new translation that's coming out part by part called The Voice. You should check it out. But anyways, the CD has this one song on it called "Please don't make us sing this song" and when I first listened to it I knew I had heard it somewhere else before, but I had no idea where. After I thought about it a while, I realized that when we were at Ecclesia, a church downtown, they had done a video to it, with pictures of Hurricane Katrina as the background. I realized how absurd it was that I could remember that so vividly from like August or September, or whenever it was. I guess that's what I get for being an auditory person. But anyways. I was looking for the album art of this CD and I came across that video!!! How crazy! It's by this place called "The work of the people."I tried to post it here, but that didn't work, so you can go here to view it. The song's based on Psalm 137. I've posted the words below. Well that's about it for now. I have a TON of stuff to do this weekend (Ballet exams, Bible drill state semi-finals, Shout! Chior Tour...) so I won't be posting until sometime next week. And if I don't then you can come yell at me. Or not. Later.

Please don't make us sing this song by Lori Chaffer

By the rivers of Babalon we sat and wept
And thought of home so far away
On the branches of the willow trees we hung our harps
And hid our hearts from the enemy
And the men that surrounded us made demands
That we clap our hands and sing

Please don't make us sing this song
We used to be happy
When we were free and home
If I can't remember
May I never sing a song again

I can't, I won't
I feel so far away

Please don't make us sing this song
We used to be happy
When we were free and home
If I can't remember
May I never sing a song again
