Hey everybody!!!!!
So....you want to know what's going on here? OK, Tuesday morning we had spanish class...lunch.....then we went out to the village. That was awesome! We visited 7 families total, but I only went to 6. The first place we went to was this older couple, then we went across the street to a place we went last week. There are like 4 kids, a mom and an abuelita(spanish word for grandmother.) The kids there are soooo sweet! All of them give you a hug, whether they know you or not! Then my mom, my dad and Rodney went down the hill to see another family, but me, Courtney and Connie drove to the top of the hill, cuz we didn't want to walk down the steep valley. After they made thier way back up to the top of the hill we drove to another family's house. There were a whole bunch of girls there(I don't remember how many...)and then the mom and the abuelita. They offered us a pepsi there and that cool drink was very refreshing! The kids there were sooooo cute! Then we drove down the hill to see this family, but only the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law were there. One of the daughter in law's eyes had been decaying out of her head. That was the saddest thing we saw. Rod said that there was nothing we could do for her except for lead her to Christ. Rod tried to talk to her, but she didn't speak Spanish, she only spoke her dialect. We talked to the mother-in-law and she said that someone had come to talk to her in her dialect about God, but she had refused. The only thing we can do for her is pray. After that we went to an older couple's house, some of you might know them as the couple that fed Sterling the cactus. We talked to them for a little while, then Rodney read John 3 to them. They are relatively new Christians and the Johnson's gave them a spanish Bible, but they can't read so Rod has to read some of it to them. When we finished there we went to a house where there are 10 kids, but only 7 of them were there. There was also a mother and an abuelita there, but the grandfather just died. None of them are Christians, except for the grandfather that just died. That was an interesting story....this grandfather had been paralyzed his entire life, but the Johnson's had gone out there to talk to them almost every week. When the paralyzed man was on his death bed he reached out his hand to Rodney and said "I rememer everything you've told me." And he became a Christian right before he died. The mother sounded very interested in everythin we were saying about Christ, but the abuelita is vey hard-hearted and won't let any of them become Christian's. Please pray that there would be an opportunity for the mother to become a Christian! At each of these houses we delivered some rice, some beans, some milk, some chilies, some pasta and.....actually I think that was it. Also, all of the houses had several dogs, several chickens(BRCAWK!), several goats and a few had donkeys and pigs. Another thing I noticed at the houses was the differences between the people who know God and the people who don't. The people who know him are soo much happier than those who don't! By the time we were done visiting all of the houses it was about 8:30, time for dinner here. We went to this resturant where they bring some meat out on a grill thing and it was soooo good! While we were in the resturant it started raining, so we decided to make our way home(by this time it was about 10:30, and we still hadn't done our homework for Spanish class!) When we got back to the Mission house and were about to do our homework for Spanish class the next day the electricity went out! It came back on at about midnight or so.
Today in Spanish class in the second hour our teacher like didn't talk to me and Courtney the entire time after we got one answer wrong! Oh yeah, we got this new guy in our second class. His name's Frank. Anyways, today we're just kind-of chillin'. I'm going to call Kathryn Marsh tonight at about 7(between CPR and Shrink), so if you want to talk you better be there tonight! Well that's about it for now! Thanks for all your prayers and please keep praying! I miss y'all sooooooo much! Although I love it here in Oaxaca I can't wait to get back to Houston! Adios!
