Another update.....

Hey eveyone!

Eveything is still going good! We are having a great time here, but I miss home soooo much! Anyways, so you want to know what is going on.....

Saturday night we went to the Solidad(the plaza by one of the many churches in Oaxaca) and had nieve, which is kind-of like ice cream. I had tuna and sorbete......no I did not have fish ice cream! Tuna is the cactus fruit, but it is really good! Then we went to the store and.....yeah that was pretty much it for the rest of Saturday.

Sunday morning was, obviously, church. We went to Rod and Connies church, where everything is in espaƱol. I could not really understand the music, or the prayers, or the sermon, but that did not really matter becuase I went with Courtney to help teach the kids. That was pretty fun, although the kids were very rowdy. After church we went to one of the church members houses to have a kind-of picnic thing. You bring your own meat and then you roast it directly on the charcoal. It had kind-of an ashy flavor, but other than that it tasted pretty good. We played some great games that I have to tell y'all about when I get back. After that we went back to the house to rest for a little while.

Sunday night we(My parents, me, Courtney, Rod, Connnie and the Johnson's cousins) headed back to the Solidad at about 7 or so to see the Oaxacan dancers that were supposed to be there. We got about halfway there and we ran into Rod's sister. She told us that the had moved it to the lleno(a giant park in the middle of Oaxaca.) So we all headed down to the lleno, which was quite a ways from where we were. Oh and by the way we were walking this whole time. When we got there, there were no dancers there. So we walked around the lleno for a little while and my dad bought a dictionary at one of the many little book stands set up. Then we walked over to a little taco place and had dinner. After that we all drove back down to the Solidad to have another nieve. Then we went back home and went to sleep!

Today we had school from 10:30 to 1:30 and then we walked all around the downtown market until 5:00. The part of the market that stuck out to me the most was the fresh meat. I don't mean fresh meat like pacaged and everything. I mean like fresh meat as in "Hey, do you want some fresh pig feet?" Yeah, kind-of disgusting and smelly. Actually, not kind-of, really. Also, if you are ever in Oaxaca you definitely need to try some chapulinas. I haven't tried them yet, but if you're ever down here you definitely need to try them. If you don't know what they are go look them up on the internet. Well I'm gonna go! I miss all of you soooo much! See ya later!

Chapulinas... haha. When you try one, make sure it's a big crunchy one, with spindly legs. Oooh yes. Haha, j/k. I don't really like them that much. It sounds like you are having a great time! You should get a xanga. Xanga is better than blogspot, lol. Ask Courtney how to make one, and more about them if you're interested. She has a quite lovely one. Well anyways, have fun, and stay safe! We're praying for y'all.
