we're here!

Que pasa? We made it here and I'm having a great time so far. As you all know Sunday was mother's day in the US. Well, in Oaxaca mother's day is always on the 10th, so it was Tuesday this year. After we arrived Monday night, we stayed up until 12:30, becuase the youth from Rod and Connie's church go around to all the mother's in town the night before mother's day and sing some spanish songs about mothers. Rod and Connie told them that my mom would be here and so they came by and sang us some songs. Of course we didn't know any of the words, but it was fun anyways!

Tuesday morning we started our spanish classes, but not before we got a healthy start to the day! The Johnson's took us my Gloria's....for those of you who haven't heard Sterling talk about it, it is like the most awesome breakfast place ever! The food was wonderful. Then we have our spanish classes from 10:30 until 1:30. We have two sessions and two different teachers. My dad, Courtney Johnson and I are in a class together. Today we had an opportunity to share our faith with the second teacher. We started talking(in spanish, none the less!) and she asked what my dad did, and it spread from there. She was raised Roman Catholic, so she wanted answers to lots of questions she had. The best part......she said she wanted to continue the conversation, and we're here for two weeks!

Yesterday afternoon we walked around the downtown area and saw the inside of some of the giant cathedrals. Oh, and btw lunch is usually around 3:00 here, and dinner is around 8:00. We visited with another missionary here last night until 12:00. This afternoon we went to visit a family that lives about 15 or 20 minutes outside of town that Rod and Connie work with. There were two girls there and one of thier birthday's was today and one of them was next week I think, but we just visited them both today. There were too many stories too tell them all on here. Hopefully I'll remember them all and be able to tell you when I get back.

We're going to pick up Libby Brown from the airport tonight. She's staying here through the weekend. Just so you know, obviouslly I have internet access now. Also, check out my dad's blog....it's a lot more detailed than mine...www.ubcsp.blogspot.com. Well, I'll be in touch with you later! Adios amigos!
